Sir, i am appearing for CDS2 2020. I have a major doubt whether to opt for OTA only or both IMA and OTA. I have last chance to appear for IMA as my DOB is 10-08-97. I have already filled my application with only prefrence for OTA as i thought i could easily clear OTA because it doesn't have mathematics. And would opt for PC after 14 years . As i want to join the army for 30.
Is there any career difference between a cadet from IMA and OTA. Is it diffucult to get PC ? And is there any difference in other perks and benefits?
Should i again fill the application form with IMA and OTA both. If so , how can i do it.
Please reply soon as last day for application is 25 Aug.
You should opt for both IMA and OTA, this will increase the chances of your selection.
Answering your second question, there are no major difference in the career for officer commissioned either from OTA or IMA.
Regarding the future possibility of converting from short service to permanent commission, it totally depends on the rules and regulation at that point of time. As of present, one can easily opt for Permanent commission but there are some policy in pipeline which may make it tough in next ten years.
So its better to opt for IMA (As you have plan of serving for 30 years), but alternatively OTA offers you the opportunity to understand the job and then take the informed decision of continuing or getting released.
Also, (as a silver lining) for an officer with successful track record there's always good chances of getting approved for permanent commission.
